Developing Trends in
Crime Analysis & Problem Solving

During the Post-ECCA program on Crime Reduction for Police Managers, commencing July 5th, 2004 at the Royal New Zealand Police College, a series of discussions on developing trends in crime analysis and problem solving was facilitated in a forum by Dr. Patricia Brantingham.

During this session, Dr. Gisela Bichler led a discussion on how criminal justice research professionals are moving toward more advanced analysis of crime patterns that requires the augmentation of generic crime data. This trend is the result of increasing dissatisfaction with the depth and quality of information routinely gather by law enforcement management information systems; crime data alone is not sufficiently detailed to base crime prevention strategies.

This web site was developed to provide detailed information
regarding several case studies profiled during this forum.
