  Eric is currently assisting with several research projects under the supervision of Dr. Sechrest and Dr. Bichler. These include the Mentally Ill Offender Crime Reduction Grant (SPAN), the Riverside County Youth Accountability Board (YAB) and Youth Accountability Team (YAT) evaluation projects, and the Chula Vista Budget Motel Project. Eric is a graduate student with the Department of Criminal Justice, CSUSB. His interests include environmental criminology, crime and disorder correlations, and multi-housing and commercial crime. Eric recently left law enforcement after nearly 25 years where he last served as a patrol supervisor with a municipal police department. He continues to work with the department part-time applying Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) concepts to future city development.

    San Bernardino Partners for Aftercare Networking Program (SPAN) Project
An evaluation project of the San Bernardino County Behavioral Health Department’s SPAN program designed to reduce crime, jail crowding, and criminal justice costs associated with mentally ill offenders by bridging inmates with social services upon release. Project included data management and analysis.
    Youth Accountability Board (YAB) Project-Riverside County
Research Assistant Team Leader
An evaluation project of the Riverside County Youth Accountability Board that provides first-time youthful offenders with an alternative to the formal court system. Project includes data collection, management, and analysis of juvenile delinquent movement patterns in an attempt to forecast future criminal activity. Also responsible for personnel management of graduate students assigned to project.

    Youth Accountability Team (YAT) Project-Riverside County
An examination of juvenile delinquent movement patterns in an attempt to forecast future criminal activity. Project included field data collection, data cleaning, mapping, and report writing.
    Police Action Counseling Team (PACT) Project-Riverside County
An examination of a multi-agency program that dispatches a counseling team to domestic violence and other traumatic police calls for service where minors are present. Field data collection included the use of global positioning systems (GPS) and site assessments to measure spatial distances to services as a variable of program success or failure. Project also included data cleaning, analysis, and report writing.
    Chula Vista, Ca Budget Motel Project
An examination of crime and disorder in budget motels using management policy and procedure assessments, and environmental surveys. Project included field data collection and analysis.
  2003-present Reserve Police Officer
Duties consist of applying Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) concepts to new development and Situational Crime Prevention Techniques to on-going crime problems.
